Berkley Royal Oak Ferndale Unified Figure Skating Team Competes at State Championship

The Berkley, Royal Oak, Ferndale Unified Figure Skating Team (BROU) had another fantastic high school figure skating season, ending with the students skating at the State Championship. The following are highlights from the team.

The Level B (Intermediate) Team won first place at the District 6 Championship, for a 3-peat, earning the team a trip to the State Championship on March 22 and 23 in Midland.  The Level C (Low) Team came in second place at the District 6 Championship which also earned them a trip to States. 

At the Michigan High School State Championship, the B team came in second place overall and the C Team came in eighth place.

Berkley High School skaters on the B team include:  Lily Garska (Senior), Maddie Gold (Senior), and Hannah Wardrope (Senior).

Berkley High School skaters on the C team include: Rosa Moody (Junior), Theresa Solomon (Junior), Clarice Thielbar (Sophomore), Claire Dijkers (Freshman), Molly Remeika (Junior) and Cailin Weber (Freshman). 

At the State individual competition the Berkley High School skaters placed as follows:

• Lily Garska placed second in Intermediate Plus Freestyle.
• Maddie Gold Placed fourth in Intermediate Freestyle and sixth in Pre-Gold Ice Dance.
• Rosa Moody placed fourth in Pre-preliminary Freestyle.
• Claire Dijkers placed second in Aspire 3.
