Paul Yowchuang, Norup International Principal
Welcome to my page at Norup International. My name is Paul Yowchuang, and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead as we look to make Norup International School into the best school it can be. We have great students. a great staff, and a wonderful community. The 2024-25 school year is my 14th year as Norup's proud principal and my 28th in public education.
A little about me: I grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, and went on to Mount Pleasant to study at Central Michigan University, where I acquired degrees in Chemistry and Physics with a Mathematics minor. My first year of teaching was at Dearborn Heights Annapolis HS and then I came to Berkley High School in the fall of 1998. Berkley has been a wonderful place for me to work ever since. I currently live in the city of Detroit (Rivertown neighborhood) in an Albert Kahn building and serve on the building association governing board. I am a huge fan of soccer (Arsenal is by far and away my favorite club).
Some other things I have done in my career:
- Taught mathematics and science for 8 years
- Was a part of the founding team for FIRST Robotics at BHS
- Coached the boys and girls varsity cross country teams for six seasons
- Coached the boys and girls varsity track and field teams for seven seasons, earning three OAA titles from 2005-07 on the girls side and two OAA titles from 2005-2006 on the boys side. Our boys finished 4th in Oakland County and 13th in the state in 2005.
- 4 years as the district athletic director
- 4 years as a high school assistant principal (3 of which were concurrent with the athletic director position)
Please feel free to contact me at any time (although I prefer e-mail, any means is good).
