Angell Fifth Grade Camp Updates

Dear 5th Grade Families,,

Below are some reminders about 5th grade camp . . . .

  1. Health Forms:  Please use our Camp Health Form Link to complete a health form for your child.  This will help us organize all the necessary information to ensure your child has a great experience at camp.  We would like all health forms completed by Monday, February 3, 2025.

  2. Payment Information:  The cost of camp will be $100 per student.  This includes all meals, accommodations, transportation, and educational classes.  Each PTA has provided funding that enables us to only charge $100.  If you have a need for financial assistance please do not hesitate to contact me or your building principal personally.  Our goal is to have 100% of our students attend camp regardless of their ability to pay.   Camp payments may be sent directly to the main office and checks can be made out to the Berkley School District.  We will also accept cash payments.  You are welcome to make several smaller payments or make one payment.  We also have a digital/online option for camp payments.  Please follow these directions to make online payments through the MISTAR Parent Portal.

    1. Log into MISTAR

    2. Choose the Accounts Tab on the located in the left hand side bar.

    3. Choose the hyperlink “Click Here to Access Online SBA Payments”.

    4. Choose the 5th Grade Camp option.

    5. You may choose to do a full payment of $100 or make smaller payments at any time.

    6. Please be advised that there is a 3% fee for all online payments.  The system will take you directly to Paypal to pay and then bring you back to MISTAR to post your payment to your student’s account. Our hope is to receive all camp payments by Monday, February 3, 2025.

  3. Medication: All medication must be in its original container. More information about medication needs while at camp will be found on the health forms, so please review that information carefully and provide us detailed information.

  4. Luggage Drop-Off:  On the day of camp (March 5th), student luggage will need to be dropped off at Hartfield Lanes, 3490 12 Mile in Berkley.  We will have assigned times for each school that will be sent out prior to camp.  Volunteers are needed to help load the luggage onto the truck. If you are willing and able to help, please get out of your vehicle when dropping off luggage at Hartfield Lanes.

  5. Packing List:  Please use the Packing List to organize all the clothing and items needed for camp.  Please note that students may not bring any electronics, including Apple Watches and phones of any kind. This is a good time to make sure you have ALL the winter gear as it will be hard to find in March. Remember that we do not allow any electronics at camp (cell phones, smartwatches, ipads, etc…)

  6. Letters:  Fifth graders love mail!  Start thinking about organizing letters and asking important people in your child's life to consider sending letters, as well. If you choose to mail them, you will want to send them out the week before we leave for camp.

We will not have access to the Internet while we are gone and will not be able to check our email.  No news is good news!

  1. Nervous Camper:  If your child is feeling nervous about camp, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher as they can help develop strategies that can help your child. It is also important to inform teachers of any potential issues (bedwetting, sleep walking, etc…) in advance.  This should also be reflected on the health form.

  2. Returning from Camp:  Our 5th graders and staff will return between 1:30pm and 2:00 pm on Friday, March 7th.  A message will be sent from your school to notify you when we have left Camp Storer.  Students will not attend school after their return on Friday. We will also have a pick up form that will be filled out closer to camp that will allow you to indicate alternative people to pick your child up in the event you are not available at that time.
