Angell 5th Grade Information

Dear 5th Grade Families,

We are excited for all the events that will culminate our 5th graders' time as students at Angell Elementary School.

The Angell PTA, Angell 5th grade staff, 5th-grade room parents, and myself have collaborated in planning many wonderful events to celebrate our 5th grade promotion.  All of our events have been carefully planned to be inclusive of all students.

Here are some important details that you will also hear about in other communications

  • Middle School Orientation: Our 5th graders will visit Anderson Middle School with their teachers on June 3rd. Students will walk to AMS at 1:30 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. orientation program and be dismissed from Anderson Middle School at 3:15 p.m.
  • Our 5th grade teachers and room parents will host a 5th grade party on Tuesday, June 11th, in the afternoon. Look for a sign-up genius for party supplies and volunteer opportunities.
  • Our 5th graders will participate in a school-wide clap out at 2:55 p.m. on June 11th.  Parents are welcome to attend and assemble on the playground blacktop area at 2:45 p.m. to complete the clap out.
  • June 12th will be our Vehicle Promotion Parade at 9:00 am.  See additional information below.
  • A poster will be given to all students to decorate to use at the parade to identify their vehicle.

We also have personalized yard signs that will be distributed before June 12th. Our teachers will distribute gift bags to each 5th grader, who will receive a special t-shirt and a promotion certificate at the car parade on June 12th.

Here are important details about the Vehicle Promotion Parade on June 12th at 9:00 am

  • Every 5th-grade family is invited to join us at 8:45 a.m. to begin the parade lineup. 5th graders will not attend school prior to the event that morning.
    • The parade will begin at the corner of Bacon And Beverly facing East (near the Angell marquee).
    • Our 5th-grade Teachers, Mrs. Ozanich, Mrs. Shifman, Mrs. Tosto, and Mr. Gigliotti, will be at the front of the parade to hand out gift bags and start the parade.
  • 5th Grade families are encouraged to decorate their vehicles.
  • The event will be recorded and shared with our 5th-grade families after the event.
  • Our entire school community will line the outside perimeter of the building on Bacon, Beverly, Wiltshire, and Cummings.  Students and staff will cheer and say goodbye to our 5th graders as they follow the parade route.
  • Each 5th grade family is encouraged to take it slow and enjoy the moment and complete the parade route (East on Beverly, South on Bacon, West on Wiltshire and South on Cummings) two times.  We ask all parade participants to please remain in your vehicles.
  • All 5th-grade families will be excused after the parade to enjoy the rest of the morning.  5th graders will not attend school after the parade.  Students will officially be 6th graders!
  • 5th-grade families will receive a video link via email of the promotion parade.

We are excited about all the memorable events planned for our 5th graders and look forward to celebrating with the community.
