Rogers: Weekly Raccoon Review - December 13, 2024

December 13, 2024

Hello Rogers Community,

Warmest seasons greetings to everyone!  Please take a few moments to read about what is happening at Rogers to stay informed.  It is very important to stay informed about what is happening at our great school.  This week has lots of information in our edition of the Raccoon Review, such as:

-Principal’s message which includes: Leader in Me/building culture goals and recent ad hoc parent meeting, a farewell to Ms. Kilbride, and our staff’s SECRET underground spirit week recap
-Oakland County Hearing Screenings for TK, K, 2nd & 4th grade coming in January

-PTA information: Feedback survey regarding Fun Run spending, Moon Beams for Sweet Dreams (12/13),   SkateWorld event (1/25)

-Meet some more of our Staff

-Classroom Corner updates in pictures

-Free tutoring opportunities brought to you by Varsity Tutors

-Berkley African American Parent Network

-January lunch menu

-A very important reminder:

Please have your child wear gloves/mittens made for colder weather and wetness.  We have had many little ones coming in with cold or wet hands because they have no gloves or mittens.  If you need some, please let us know and we’d be happy to help.

Also, please take note of the message below from one of our crossing guards:

It is dark in the mornings, especially when overcast.  Incidents of students exiting vehicles onto the street and darting across to get to school are sadly more the norm despite school and BPS direction to use the crosswalk.  Elementary students should be old enough to unbuckle, slide across to the curb side, and exit without disrupting traffic flow.    Thankfully, to date, there has not been a tragedy at Rogers.  It has happened at other elementaries within the district in the past and we would like to remain accident free.  Please abide by the traffic patterns and morning procedures.  Thank you for your time and efforts.

Be well!

With Raccoon Pride,

Mrs. Andrea Hasse, principal
