Cheerleaders performing in front of a crowded stadium at a high school football game.

During the week of September 23rd, Berkley High School students celebrated Homecoming.

The week kicked off with Spirit Week, where students dressed up in the following themes:

  • Monday: Minion Monday
  • Tuesday: Decades Day
  • Wednesday: Jersey Day
  • Thursday: Funny T-Shirt Day
  • Friday: Class Colors (Freshmen-white, Sophomores-green, Juniors-red, Seniors-blue, Staff-black)

PowderPuff

On Wednesday, September 25, the annual PowderPuff game took place at Hurley Field. At PowderPuff, Junior and Senior girls play a flag football game against each other. The Senior class secured a victory with a final score of 16-8.

Senior Sunrise

On the morning of September 27, at 6:45 am, BHS seniors gathered at Hurley Field for the annual Senior Sunrise. BHS staff handed out bagels as they greeted students, and as the sunrise approached, students laid out blankets, took photos, played games and caught up with friends. The morning ended with a class photo.

Pep Rally

On Friday, September 27, during 6th hour, the BHS student body gathered in the West Gym for the annual Homecoming Pep Rally. Fall sports teams paraded around the gym, the Marching Band played the fight song and a student sang the National Anthem to kick off the afternoon. The pep rally included performances by the Varsity Cheer Team and Dance Team. Students played games, too, including tug-of-war and musical chairs. The Pep Rally also included crowning Homecoming Royalty and teachers engaging in lip syncing competition.

Congratulations to the following Homecoming Royalty:

Jessica Mack and Norah Eyler - Seniors

Alyssa Dondineau and Skai Ramey - Juniors

Gabrielle McCauley and Logan Fishman - Sophomores

Hannah Harris and Addison Simmons - Freshmen

The Pep Rally is planned by BHS Student Leadership.

Homecoming Game

The Berkley Bears played against the Royal Oak Ravens at the Homecoming football game on September 27th. The Marching Band led the crowd in the fight song, the Alma Mater and “Go Bears,” and the student section kept the energy up at the game. Congratulations to the Bears for winning 14-7.

The full crowd enjoyed mild weather and lots of school spirit. The student section, the Bear Pack, made sure to work in their tradition of a roller coaster as well. At halftime, student performances including the dance team, Marching Band, Cheer Team, as well as the Homecoming Royalty court, were presented to the crowd.
