Norup Choir Students Learn Through Chalk Art
On Friday, February 9th, Norup students from Choir Yellow and Choir Blue took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and went outside for a "Treble Clef Competition." Students used sidewalk chalk to craft their treble clefs on a giant musical staff. Choir director Sarah Noble took photos of each class' efforts and presented them anonymously to her BHS choral ensembles for a vote. The high school students were asked to consider each treble clef and select the one with the best proportions and correct placement on the staff. The winner from each class will receive a candy prize and ultimate bragging rights.
Ms. Noble shared, "Sometimes play is where the best learning takes place. As our middle school students worked on their treble clefs outside, the playground was filled with elementary students who marveled at their drawings and watched with wide eyes. It was so special to see their excitement for music literacy grow."
