Berkley High School Celebrates Homecoming
During the week of September 25th, Berkley High School students celebrated Homecoming. The week kicked off with Spirit Week, where students dressed up in the following themes:
- Monday: Teacher student swap
- Tuesday: Jersey day
- Wednesday: Western Wednesday
- Thursday: Barbie vs Oppenheimer
- Friday: Class Colors (Freshmen-white, Sophomores-green, Juniors-red, Seniors-blue, Staff-black)
PowderPuff
On Wednesday, September 27, the annual PowderPuff game took place at Hurley Field. At PowderPuff, Junior and Senior girls play a flag football game against each other. The Senior class secured a victory with a final score of 21-14.
Senior Sunrise
On the morning of September 29, at 6:45 am, BHS seniors gathered at Hurley Field for the annual Senior Sunrise. BHS staff handed out bagels as they greeted students, and as the sunrise approached, students laid out blankets, took photos, played games and caught up with friends. Pep Rally
On Friday, September 29, during 6th hour, the BHS student body gathered in the West Gym for the annual Homecoming Pep Rally. Fall sports teams paraded around the gym, the Marching Band played the fight song and a student sang the National Anthem to kick off the afternoon. The pep rally included performances by the Varsity Cheer Team, Dance Team and Encore!. Students played games, too, including tug-of-war, musical chairs and a dance-off. The Pep Rally ended with crowning Homecoming Royalty and two teachers (Ron Fritz and Jason Austerman) engaging in head-to-head competition while dressed in t-rex and unicorn inflatable costumes.

Homecoming Game
The Berkley Bears played against the Ferndale Golden Eagles at the Homecoming football game on September 29th. The Marching Band led the crowd in the fight song, the Alma Mater and “Go Bears,” and the student section kept the energy up at the game. In the end, the Bears lost a hard-fought battle against the Golden Eagles.
The full crowd enjoyed mild weather and lots of school spirit. The student section, the Bear Pack, made sure to work in their tradition of a roller coaster as well. At halftime, student performances including the Dance Team, Marching Band, Cheer Team, as well as the Homecoming Royalty court, were presented to the crowd.
