Greece Trip 2023: Follow-Up Information

Dear AMS, Norup & BHS Families,
Thanks to all who were able to make it to last night’s meeting about our international trip opportunity being offered for spring break, 2023: Athens and the Islands. It's an incredible opportunity for our students to explore another place and culture, and I can't wait to see them discover more about themselves in the process.
Good news! We were able to open up more spots on the trip. As I explained at the meeting, the deadline to enroll is Friday October 22nd, 2021 and space is limited – fewer than 20 spots remain. Sign up now to guarantee a spot for your child.
Couldn’t make it last night? Let me know and I’d be happy to send along all the information we covered! Have questions? The friendly folks at EF's Traveler Support team can help at 800-665-5364. And if your child has friends who haven't signed up yet, feel free to pass this message along to their families, too. Below, I have also added answers to some of the questions asked last night.
Sincerely,
Athena Troher, AMS Teacher
Greece 2023 - FAQ
Are there spots left on the trip?
Yes! As expected, we quickly filled our available spots and had a significant number of people join the waitlist. We were able to get additional spots and move everyone off the waitlist. There are currently only 18 spots left, and after these are filled we will not be able to expand the group further. Make sure to enroll today if you are interested.
Have we confirmed the dates of the trip?
Yes, we recently received the dates for our 2023 March break and confirmed the dates of our tour – departure on March 23rd, 2023 and return on April 1st, 2023.
Is there a way to communicate with the group while on tour?
Yes. Families can purchase international cell phone plans to communicate during the trip. WiFi will be available in most hotels as well. In the event of an emergency, EF’s 24/7 response team can always get in contact with the group.
What happens if we sign up now and decide we can no longer travel? What is the refund policy?
Any newly enrolled travelers can cancel off the tour for any reason by February 1, 2022 and get a full refund. After February 1, 2022, cancellation fees may apply under EF’s booking conditions. For further questions on enrollment and refund policies, please contact the EF Traveler Support Team: (800) 665-5364
Who is eligible to enroll on the trip?
This trip is open to students who will be in 6th grade and above. Parents and guardians are welcome to join the tour as well.
Will EF be requiring COVID-19 vaccinations?
EF does not require travelers to be vaccinated for Covid-19 but will be following the health and travel guidelines of the State Department, the CDC, and the local regulations of Greece. We will provide the group with more information about travel requirements closer to the date of our trip.
What kind of assistance is there for travelers with allergies, dietary restrictions, or health conditions?
EF has over 55 years of experience accommodating travelers with allergies and other dietary restrictions. A few months before we depart, I will be collecting all allergy, medical needs, and dietary restriction information from each traveler and submitting this information to EF. This is where you will indicate any medications that your child needs, health concerns or medical conditions, allergies, dietary restrictions, or anything else EF should need to know to keep all travelers safe and healthy on tour. EF will make specific arrangements for all planned meals to ensure each travelers safety.
Is there travel insurance available?
Yes, EF’s custom Global Travel Protection Plan is already included in the price of our tour, but you can also choose to purchase additional coverage. Read more about insurance packages
Can you tell us more about the hotels?
Every hotel EF works with meets a high standard for safety, quality, and cleanliness. Hotels are vetted by EF’s safety team to make sure they meet our requirements and are subsequently inspected regularly to ensure they continue to satisfy those parameters. Please note that hotels abroad may have different amenities than travelers are accustomed to in the United States.
How does rooming work?
Rooming is assigned upon arrival and student travelers are typically roomed in triples or quads. It is possible there will be bed sharing. Single bed/room upgrades, family rooming, and LGBTQ+ rooming can be accommodated.
What kind of cruise ship will we be traveling on?
The cruise component of our tour will be aboard a commercial-style cruise ship. EF works closely with cruise vendors to ensure a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and comfort.
Can you tell me more about the college credit opportunity?
Southern New Hampshire University and Education First have partnered together to create a self-paced, choice-based undergraduate learning experience for travelers on EF Tours. Interculturalism & Global Exploration allows students to enhance their tour education by applying their experiences to this innovative and experiential course. It supports students in thinking more deeply about their time abroad, how they have grown as individuals and global citizens, and builds the confidence that comes with completing a college level course. Tuition for the 3.0 credit course is $215. Interested in learning more? Reach out to EF Traveler Support.
What is the Global Citizen Scholarship?
With the support of the EF Global Classroom Foundation, our Global Citizen Scholarship Fund is designed to help open the world for more students than ever with $100,000 in annual travel scholarships. Each year, we will award $1,000 to as many as 100 students from around the country. For more information and application deadlines, visit the EF website.
